Residences

Nestled within our vibrant campus, St Brendan's College takes pride in providing clean and modern facilities across our four boarding residences. Each residence is designed to offer a comfortable and nurturing environment, fostering a sense of community and sense of belonging among our boarders. With a commitment to creating a home away from home, our boarding facilities are equipped with the latest amenities to ensure the well-being of our students.

Wallace Residence was named after the Bishop of Rockhampton, Bishop Bernard Wallace. He was bishop from 1974 until he retired in May of 1990 before his passing in November of the same year. Bishop Bernard was a brave man. He expressed his convictions forcefully; he stood his ground resolutely; and he followed his ideals passionately.

Wallace Residence is home for our Year 7 and 8 boarders.

Wallace Residence Residence houses the youngest members of the St Brendan's boarding community. Wallace Residence has a warm and inviting common area, with an office and parent lounge.

Wallace Residence offers a total of 66 beds on two levels. The ground floor has 5 single rooms and 1 triple, one shared bathroom block, kitchenette and a large recreation/common area with TV and reading nook, breakout room with TV, WIFI, and laundry facilities. The first floor has 17 single rooms, 10 double rooms and 7 triple rooms, 3 shared bathroom blocks, 6 balconies.

This Residence is named after the founder of the Irish Christian Brothers, Edmund Rice. It is from his philosophy and willingness to help those less fortunate than others that form the foundation of the education boys receive at St Brendan’s College.

Edmund Rice is home for our Year 8 and 9 boarders.

Edmund Rice Residence offers a total of 89 beds on two levels overlooking the dam on the eastern side of the grounds. The ground floor has two single rooms, 5 double, 6 triple, one quad room, a recreation room with a pool table and adjoining TV room and kitchenette, a single bathroom block, and adjoining laundry. The first floor has 19 single rooms, 18 double rooms, two shared bathroom blocks, TV/common area, and 3 balconies.

This Residence was named after Brother Leonard McKennariey, who came from Brisbane. He was a good gymnast, an enthusiastic sports coach, and a tireless and thorough teacher. He arrived at St Brendan’s in 1944 and spent over ten years at the College. Brother McKennariey spent his last forty years in Queensland boarding schools.

McKennariey is the College's oldest residence and is located closest to the academic facilities of the College and includes a theatre room, pool room, and common BBQ area.

McKennariey is home for our Year 10 and 11 boarders.

McKennariey Residence offers a total of 86 beds on two levels. The ground floor has 6 quad rooms, a large TV/common room an adjoining games room with ping pong table, a kitchenette with a dining area, and a TV. The second floor has 15 single cubicles, 4 double rooms, 1 triple room, 9 quad rooms, two balconies, and a shared bathroom block.

This Residence was named after Brother Gerald Fitzpatrick who came from Tatura, Victoria. He arrived at St Brendan’s College in 1941 and stayed till 1957. His name was synonymous with kindness and generosity. His work around St Brendan’s was to collect firewood for the boiler and the kitchen and to mow the ovals using a mower drawn by ‘Barney’ the horse.

Fitzpatrick is currently home to our Year 11 and 12 boarders and is located adjacent to our abundant sporting fields, tennis courts, cattle yards, and rodeo arena.

Fitzpatrick Residence offers a total of 75 beds on two levels overlooking our rodeo grounds. The ground floor has 13 single rooms and one triple room, two shared bathroom blocks, two common rooms with kitchenettes, and a separate games room. The first floor has 17 single rooms, 13 double rooms, 4 triple rooms, three shared bathroom blocks and two balconies.
