2021 College Graduate Matthew Hill is set to take up a historic contract in 2025, swapping codes to tackle the national AFL competition. Hill who for the last three years has plied his trade in the National Rugby League system with the Melbourne Storm, made the shock announcement in recent days after opportunity came knocking. Hawthorn who are one of the biggest clubs in the AFL, snatched the talented outside back from under the nose of the Melbourne-based rugby league franchise. Hill a native to Katherine in the Northern Territory, was raised with both disciplines engrained in his blood. School football would incorporate AFL and Rugby League and little would those close to Matt have realized, that one day it would set him up to train in both professional settings. Hawthorn posted the exciting news with Hill stating his passion for AFL was the deciding factor in his decision. If he plays on the big stage this will be the first occasion an ex-SBC student has tasted top-flight AFL. Everyone at the college is incredibly proud of his achievements to date and we wish him the best for his new journey in the AFL.
