Academic Thursday, 14 Nov 2024

On 16 October 2024, St Brendan’s College hosted its Annual Awards Night, bringing together students, staff, families, and community members to recognise the outstanding achievements of over 350 students. The event celebrated student excellence across academics, music, and the arts, as well as contributions through service and leadership, embodying the values of the College’s Edmund Rice tradition.

Academic Dux awards were presented to top scholars across each year level:

  • Year 7: Lawson Sedgman
  • Year 8: Kipp Wight
  • Year 9: Charlie Green
  • Year 10: Zac Whitehead, who has achieved Dux every year since joining the College in Year 7
  • Year 11: Tate Caffery

The Year 12 Dux will be announced at the College’s first assembly in 2025 after ATAR results are finalised.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) achievements were also highlighted, with the VET Student of the Year awards going to:

  • Year 11: Nate Brooks
  • Year 12: Cooper Jukes

Cooper, who began a school-based apprenticeship as a diesel fitter in November last year, has completed more than 300 hours of practical training in his trade, working through school holidays to further his skills.

Nominees for the VET Student of the Year exemplified the dedication of St Brendan’s students to practical learning pathways:

  • Year 12 Nominees: Rory Killalea, Cooper Jukes, Macauley Flood, Blake Johnson, and Isaac Alexander
  • Year 11 Nominees: Toby Simpkins, Tate Caffery, Etienne Van Wyk (unable to attend the ceremony), Haylen Luckel Dent, Jesse McWhinney, and Piotr Kalecinski
